about
The Tough Grooves send their take of the blues classic SPOONFUL
out into the World, with guest appearance on harmonica by
Dan Sullivan (Tomcat Playground, Frank Sultana)
a mixture of blues, soul, groove, grit and street… The Tough Grooves sit in the gutter of life, and talk to the people who live there. Lovin’ all the greats from the anguished chanteuses from the 1940s blues scene, to the upbeat 1950s Chicago sounds, to 1960s Detroit soul and RnB sounds, to heavy grooves of the 70s, this band hangs down on the street corner, absorbs the rich tapestry, only to mash it and drown it, and then put it all back out on the stage.

Spoonful - The Tough Grooves – Version 2023
It could be a spoonful of diamonds
It could be a spoonful of gold
But just one spoon of your precious love
Will satisfy my soul
Some men lie about it
And some of them cry about it
Others have died for it
Everybody's fightin’ ‘bout a spoonful
That spoon, that spoon, that spoonful
That spoon, that spoon, that spoonful
That spoon, that spoon, that spoonful
Everybody's fightin’ ‘bout that
It could be a spoonful of coffee
It could be a spoonful of tea
But just one spoon of your precious love
Will satisfy me
Some men lie about it
And some of them cry about it
Others have died for it
Everybody’s fightin’ ‘bout that spoonful
That spoon, that spoon, that spoonful
That spoon, that spoon, that spoonful
That spoon, that spoon, that spoonful
Everybody’s fightin’ ‘bout that
[Harmonica / Guitar Solo]
It could be a spoonful of water
To save you from the desert sands
It could be a spoon from my .45
To save you from another man
Some men lie about it
And some of them cry about it
Others have died for it
Everybody’s fightin’ ‘bout that spoonful
That spoon, that spoon, that spoonful
That spoon, that spoon, that spoonful
That spoon, that spoon, that spoonful
Everybody’s fightin’ ‘bout that
Everybody’s fightin’ ‘bout that
